I don’t think I’ve had a chance to say all this to you at our appointments, I get pretty shy in person.  

Before surgery, I was so self-conscious. After 3 c-sections and breastfeeding, my breasts were deflated. I had complications with my 3rd c-section, so my wound had to be packed and heal from the inside out. It was unsightly and showed like a shelf so to speak in my swimsuit. I had a rectus diastasis, so my belly stuck out. In my head, my belly entered the room before I did. I started working out. I saw great results over time but not in these areas. They were stubborn to change. I caught a glimpse of myself in mirrors or windows and immediately sucked in my belly. I wore padded bras. I had a daily move to stretch out the waist of my shirts so they wouldn’t cling to my belly.  One day, I was visiting my Mother-in-law, who has Alzheimer’s. She lovingly placed her hand on my belly and asked if I was expecting again. I obviously wasn’t angry, but felt she was speaking truthfully. I decided to do something about it since I had tried everything in my own power. 

I went into surgery very nervous, but Dr. Slack and his staff always put me at ease. Dr. Slack was much more detailed in what he could AND couldn’t do for me. Maybe not what he couldn’t, but what he shouldn’t. Another doctor approved huge implants that I was unsure of. Dr. Slack took measurements and gave me very precise parameters about what was appropriate for my body. 

I had a Mommy Makeover in July 2022 with breast implants with a breast lift and an extended modified tummy tuck (thereby fixing my scar and repairing my muscle). My recovery was very smooth and anytime I had a concern, I was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Slack called back immediately. 

Now, I have confidence. I love clothes because they fit right. I don’t stretch out my shirts anymore. I don’t avoid mirrors; they don’t bother me now. I’m wearing two-piece swimsuits at age 53. Recently, for our 30th anniversary, I had boudoir photos done for my husband. I NEVER would have done that before surgery.
